A pause and a podcast
A life update, six new podcast episodes & a sneak peek of something free I’ve made for you...
Quick reminder for paid subscribers: I’m pausing payments for June as a I take a month of rest and recovery. I might post, but I also might not. We will be meeting for a June Solstice call on the 19th! 7pm AEST which is 9am U.K. time. Save to your calendar and I’ll have a link for you closer to the time xxxx
Hi friends,
It’s a rainy Monday morning and I’m curled up in my “bed office” on cycle day 25. I’m going in for surgery this week — a laparoscopy for suspected endometriosis. It feels tender and I’m nervous, but I know it’s the right decision for me. I have so much to say on this whole experience that I barely know where to start… and this newsletter isn’t going to hold all of it, or even get close.
It’s been a pretty long road of evolving symptoms, functional and medical health tests and scans, cycle journaling and charting, holistic lifestyle changes, improvements, setbacks, confusion — and I know I’m not alone in this.
If you’re navigating endo or chronic pain, I see you!! And I’ll share more when I’m through the other side of this chapter. I’ll be totally offline as I rest and recover, so if you hit reply (as you’re always welcome to) it’ll take me a little longer to respond.
In the meantime, something I am really excited to share with you…
Season Two of The Cycle Coach Show is in full swing!
Lauren and I are back with new conversations, this time sitting down with practitioners working right in the heart of menstrual cycle awareness, but all with their own unique lens.
We’re covering creativity, rites of passage, pregnancy and post-partum, sexuality, grief, working in schools, and more. Think of it as a behind-the-scenes look at what it really means to live and work cyclically today.
Here’s what we’ve got for you so far:
The Wild Mother with Olivia Waller
The Inner Seasons of Pregnancy with Monique Dickson
What Menstrual Cycle Awareness Has To Do With Female Sexuality with Melissa Vranjes
Somatic Cycle Coaching & Working With Grief with Dayna Wilson
Trust The Timing of Your Creativity with Daniella Elias
How Two Period Pioneers Are Transforming Youth Support with Hannah Brown & Beth Moxon (coming out this week)
I’m SO proud to produce and co-host this podcast! It’s a project I absolutely love working on. You can listen wherever you get your podcasts — just search for The Cycle Coach Show, or find them all here.
A few more fun things:
📺 Watching: Just finished The Studio and it was super fun with some excellent cameos.
📚 Reading: Still Life. Finally! I’m halfway through and never want this book to end. It’s not helping with my homesick-ness for London/Europe, but gosh it’s worth it.
🎧 Listening: Current hyper-fixation is learning everything I can about classical music. Podcasts I’ve been loving are this one, this one and this one.
🍲 Cooking: I’m spending today batch-cooking post-op meals, and on the menu we have chicken congee, turmeric lattes, and a classic veggie soup.
✍️ Writing: I wrote about what it was like going on a silent meditation retreat, what happened when I was there, and why I went in the first place.
I went on a silent meditation retreat
Two things surprise people when they meet me in-person after following my work online. The first is that I’m much shorter than they imagined. At 5”4 (163cm) I’m average height, but somehow my online persona projects as someone taller. The second is that my energy is more… excited? vivacious? buzzy? a tad unhinged? When meeting a long-term trainee IRL once, she goes, “Honestly Claire, it’s a relief to hear you sound
And one last thing! I’ve been quietly working on a free calendar tool to help you track your cycle right in your iCal or Google Calendar. It’s based on the system I’ve used myself for over a decade, and I can’t wait to share it with you. Look out for that next month.
As always, I appreciate you so much for being here!
Big love,
Sending you love, strength and healing for your surgery and recovery. 💗
Wishing you lots of strength and a smooth recovery! 🧡 Very curious to see the iCal tool. Would be such an easy way to share more of my cycle tracking with my partner 😊
